About this eSIM plan

Twenty gigabytes is the plan for people who use their phone the way they do at home. It absorbs music streaming on every commute, an hour or two of video most evenings, cloud photo backups, video calls, and a tethered laptop for a working week — without the running tally in the back of your mind that a smaller allowance forces on you.

It runs on the same nationwide 4G LTE and 5G network as our 5 GB plan, with the same instant delivery and the same hotspot allowance. Your existing number stays active on the same handset, so nothing about how people reach you changes.

For a month-long stay, a family sharing one hotspot, or anyone who works remotely, this is usually the plan that ends up costing least per gigabyte without going unlimited.

Nationwide coverage across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, with 5G where available. Speeds vary with local network conditions.

How it works

Buy it, install the eSIM from the QR code we email you, and switch it on when you arrive. The 30-day window starts at the first connection to the network, so you can install it days before you travel.

Before you buy — compatibility

Your phone must support eSIM and must be carrier-unlocked. On an iPhone, check Settings > General > About and look for Carrier Lock — it should read 'No SIM restrictions'. A locked phone will download the profile and then fail to connect, which looks like a broken eSIM but is not one.

Supported devices include iPhone XR/XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, and many recent Motorola, Sony, OPPO and Xiaomi models. If you are unsure, dial *#06# — a phone with eSIM support will show an EID alongside the IMEI.

Installation and activation

1. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep this page open on another screen.
2. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code.
Android: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add eSIM.
Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
3. Scan the QR code from your delivery email. To install on the same phone, choose to enter the details by hand and paste the activation code instead.
4. Label the plan something you will recognise, such as Travel.
5. Set Cellular Data to the new plan and leave your home line as the default voice line.
6. Turn Data Roaming ON for the new plan. This is required, and it costs nothing extra — the plan is prepaid.
7. Turn OFF cellular data on your home line so it cannot be used by accident.

Activation: Validity starts on first connection to the network.

If data does not start on its own, set the APN manually to fast.t-mobile.com for this line.

Questions about USA eSIM 20GB - 30 Days

Can I tether my laptop to this plan?

Yes. Hotspot is included and comes out of the same 20 GB allowance, with no separate tethering cap.

How much video will 20 GB give me?

Roughly 20 to 30 hours of standard-definition streaming, or about 6 to 8 hours at high definition, on top of normal browsing and messaging. Lowering the quality setting in your streaming app makes a large difference.

Can I buy two and use them one after the other?

Yes. Each eSIM is a separate profile with its own QR code. Install the second one when the first is exhausted and switch your data line over to it.

Refunds for this product

Because an eSIM profile can only be downloaded once, it is treated as used the moment it is installed. We will refund an unused eSIM in full if you contact us before installing it. If the profile has been installed and will not connect, contact support before requesting a refund — most activation problems are settings, and we can usually fix them in a few minutes.
