About this eSIM plan

Five gigabytes is the right size for a normal trip. It covers maps and directions every day, a steady stream of messages and email, boarding passes and ride-hailing apps, social feeds in the evening, and video calls home without counting minutes. It is not the plan to buy if you intend to stream films on the move — for that, look at the 20 GB or unlimited plans.

The plan runs on a nationwide 4G LTE and 5G network with coverage in every US state, and it works alongside the line you already have. Your own number stays live for calls and texts while this eSIM handles data, so you are reachable exactly as usual without paying your home carrier's roaming rates.

Hotspot is included at no extra cost, so a laptop or tablet can share the same allowance. There is no contract and no auto-renewal: when the 5 GB or the 30 days run out, the plan simply stops.

Coverage notes

Nationwide coverage across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. 5G is available in covered areas on phones that support it; elsewhere the plan falls back to 4G LTE. Rural and mountainous areas may have reduced coverage.

How it works

Pay, and the QR code is on your order page within a minute. Install the eSIM while you are still on Wi-Fi — ideally before you fly — then turn it on when you land. The 30 days start counting from the first time the eSIM connects to a US network, not from when you bought or installed it.

Before you buy — compatibility

Your phone must support eSIM and must be carrier-unlocked. On an iPhone, check Settings > General > About and look for Carrier Lock — it should read 'No SIM restrictions'. A locked phone will download the profile and then fail to connect, which looks like a broken eSIM but is not one.

Supported devices include iPhone XR/XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, and many recent Motorola, Sony, OPPO and Xiaomi models. If you are unsure, dial *#06# — a phone with eSIM support will show an EID alongside the IMEI.

Installation and activation

1. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep this page open on another screen.
2. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code.
Android: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add eSIM.
Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
3. Scan the QR code from your delivery email. To install on the same phone, choose to enter the details by hand and paste the activation code instead.
4. Label the plan something you will recognise, such as Travel.
5. Set Cellular Data to the new plan and leave your home line as the default voice line.
6. Turn Data Roaming ON for the new plan. This is required, and it costs nothing extra — the plan is prepaid.
7. Turn OFF cellular data on your home line so it cannot be used by accident.

Activation: Validity starts on first connection to the network.

If data does not start on its own, set the APN manually to fast.t-mobile.com for this line.

Questions about USA eSIM 5GB - 30 Days

Is 5 GB enough for a two-week trip?

For maps, messaging, email, ride-hailing and a moderate amount of social media, yes, comfortably. If you plan to stream video or work from a tethered laptop, choose the 20 GB or unlimited plan instead.

Do I get a US phone number with this plan?

No — this is a data-only plan. Keep your existing line installed for calls and SMS, and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or similar apps over the eSIM data for voice.

What happens when I use up the 5 GB?

The plan stops passing data. Nothing further is charged and there is no overage bill. Buy another plan if you need more, or switch back to your home line.

Refunds for this product

Because an eSIM profile can only be downloaded once, it is treated as used the moment it is installed. We will refund an unused eSIM in full if you contact us before installing it. If the profile has been installed and will not connect, contact support before requesting a refund — most activation problems are settings, and we can usually fix them in a few minutes.

Full terms are in our refund policy. Anything unclear? Ask before you buy.
